Become an "Official Hugger"

A great way to serve our troops is to welcome them home from deployment with open arms, especially those with no family to greet them.

Contact Loretta Cook for more information.
Let them know you are grateful for their service.  There's nothing like it.

Wreaths Across America San Diego

Wreath laying ceremonies to be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Miramar National Cemetery and Greenwood Memorial Park.

Local volunteers are working hard to ensure that veterans laid to rest at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Miramar National Cemetery and Greenwood Memorial Park are honored this December on National Wreaths Across America Day. This year, the ceremony, held simultaneously across the country at more than 1,000 locations, will be on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at 9:00am. The goal: to place a live, balsam fir wreath at the headstone of every veteran buried there and say each person’s name, so their memory lives on.

“Each and every wreath is a gift from an appreciative person or family who knows what it means to serve and sacrifice for the freedoms we all enjoy,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. “We are so humbled that the community of San Diego is participating in our mission to Remember, Honor and Teach.”

From now through November, community members can sponsor the wreaths needed to honor veterans at San Diego’s national cemeteries and find more information at and click on Sponsor a Wreath.

San Diego North County Blue Star Mothers is a support group serving the San Diego area military and families. Our founding mothers first came together in September 2005 and meet regularly to share our worries, pride, and devotion to our children who are now serving in every branch of the military. We are an official chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., a group formed during World War II.

Blue Star Mothers of America is a non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory and non-profit organization. We do not support any political candidate, nor do we endorse any religious organization. The military represents all aspects of America, as does our organization. Our mission is to support through service:

- United States military personnel who serve or have served honorably and their families
- Veteran's organizations
- Causes that will benefit military personnel

We hope that you will take the time to look through our web site. If you have a family member or friend in the military, we are here for you. If you are a proud American and want to do something to help, we are developing projects that will tell you how you can make a difference. - Kathryn Hood (Founder)

Our military service person's Mom serves also.....

She worries, she cries, she writes letters, emails, and sends packages.

Mostly she waits and she prays!
