The Patriots Initiative has released
The Directory and SDNC Blue Star Mothers is among those to have qualified.

Nonprofits serving the needs of the military, veterans and their families, have undergone a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation in order to qualify  for The Directory--a listing of the very best nonprofits providing services to the military  locally, regionally and nationally.  All qualifying nonprofits have been evaluated on eight critical criteria to determine their level of effectiveness, efficiency and use of best practices in their work. The Directory will  change the way inspired donors give to support our armed forces members.

100% of any gift to The Patriots Initiative will directly support those nonprofits qualifying for The Directory through our competitive grants program, or may also
be designated to specific nonprofits listed in The Directory.

A great way to serve our troops is to welcome them home from deployment with open arms, especially those with no family to greet them.

Contact Loretta Cook for more information.
Let them know you are grateful for their service.  There's nothing like it.

The Wall That Heals is Coming to San Diego!

San Diego North County Blue Star Mothers was honored to host a site for Quilt of Valor Foundation’s ( National Sew Day held Sat., Feb 1, 2014, commemorating the recent presentation of their 100,000th quilt, providing comfort and warmth to our deserving veterans.   Sewers and quilters from within the Chapter and throughout the community gathered together at the American Legion Post #149 to sew quilt blocks and presentation cases.  The Chapter will be assembling 10 quilts, complete with presentation cases, to present to 10 local veterans at the American Legion’s Veteran’s Day celebration in November.  For more information and to join us on this project, please contact Dawn Regner,

San Diego North County Blue Star Mothers is a support group serving the San Diego area military and families. Our founding mothers first came together in September 2005 and meet regularly to share our worries, pride, and devotion to our children who are now serving in every branch of the military. We are an official chapter of the Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc., a group formed during World War II.

Blue Star Mothers of America is a non-partisan, non-political, non-sectarian, non-discriminatory and non-profit organization. We do not support any political candidate, nor do we endorse any religious organization. The military represents all aspects of America, as does our organization. Our mission is to support through service:

- United States military personnel who serve or have served honorably and their families
- Veteran's organizations
- Causes that will benefit military personnel

We hope that you will take the time to look through our web site. If you have a family member or friend in the military, we are here for you. If you are a proud American and want to do something to help, we are developing projects that will tell you how you can make a difference. - Kathryn Hood (Founder)

Our military service person's Mom serves also.....

She worries, she cries, she writes letters, emails, and sends packages.

Mostly she waits and she prays!
